Gruma's Mission Foods has moved into better-for-you snack chips with two new tortilla-style lines, announced in a Sept. 15, 2026, PR Newswire release: Mission Protein, in Chile Limón and Jalapeño, and Mission Grain Free, in Sea Salt and Hint of Lime.
Mission says the protein chips carry 10 g of plant protein a serving and are vegan and gluten-free. The grain-free chips are made with cassava flour, chia seeds and avocado oil, and are pitched as a good fiber source with non-GMO ingredients.
Kroger and its affiliate banners carry the chips nationally now, and more retailers are due during the fall. Sales and marketing VP Sathish Mohanraju tied the launch to shoppers seeking more protein and fiber. Mission cites over 20 U.S. plants plus sites in Mexico, Europe and Asia. This is a brand extension, not a plant investment.
