Raymundo Gómez Flores, the Jalisco businessman long identified as owner of Minsa, one of Mexico’s principal producers of nixtamalized corn flour (harina de maíz), died Sept. 2, 2026, at age 74, El Economista and Expansión reported.

Born June 24, 1952, in Guadalajara, Gómez Flores acquired Minsa in 1991 when the firm was in distress and rebuilt it into a major masa-flour player. Mexican coverage also tied him to DINA and Estrella Blanca holdings and noted a prior term as a PRI senator for Jalisco (2000–2003).

His daughter Altagracia Gómez Sierra, who chairs Mexico’s presidential business advisory council, confirmed the death publicly. President Claudia Sheinbaum and Jalisco Gov. Pablo Lemus issued condolences.
